Interpreting the Brand for Digital
For Thredd, the project began with the challenge of translating a newly created brand identity into a digital environment. Working in close collaboration with the branding agency Superunion, I led the interpretation of their guidelines and adapted them for web and social channels. This involved carefully considering how colour, typography, and imagery would work in interactive contexts, ensuring that the brand felt consistent while still delivering a seamless user experience. Accessibility and usability were key priorities throughout, guiding decisions on contrast, readability, and responsive layouts so that the brand’s strong visual language could be enjoyed by all audiences.
A further layer of interpretation came through the application of motion design. Drawing inspiration from the brand’s themes of weaving and coding, I developed animated behaviours that extended the static identity into digital interactions. These subtle movements brought depth and personality to the brand, reinforcing its narrative while supporting clarity and user engagement.
Website Design
Once the digital guidelines were established, I focused on designing Thredd’s new website. My role included creating animated prototypes that brought the brand to life online, shaping content to communicate complex financial technology with clarity, and developing a visual design that felt both dynamic and professional. The website launched in April 2023 and quickly received recognition for its creative and technical quality. It went on to win a Gold Award in Digital Design and UI at the BIMA Awards 2023 as well as a Drum Award for Visual Web Design, cementing its status as an award-winning example of how thoughtful design can elevate brand storytelling in the digital space.
